WINTER/SPRING INTERNSHIP PROGRAM, 2012
The Indypendent is currently accepting applications for our Winter/Spring Internship program. The application deadline is Jan. 27 and the internship starts Feb. 6 and ends May 25.
Undergraduate and graduate students or community members with previous reporting experience or one year of completed journalism coursework are encouraged to apply.
We are seeking interns who are hard-working, organized, enjoy working both independently and as a part of a team, and are dedicated to high-quality journalism in pursuit of social justice.
The internship focuses on editorial and administrative tasks vital to the daily functioning of The Indypendent’s newspaper and website. Tasks range from distributing newspapers, website maintenance, production and fact-checking to research projects, volunteer outreach and administrative tasks.
Interns will work 10 to 20 hours every week during regular business hours for the length of the program.
We will also mentor interns to improve their journalism skills including story development, interviewing, information gathering and editing. Reporting is in addition to the regular work of the internship program.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, resume and two published news clips to Elizabeth Henderson at elizabeth.indypendent@gmail.com no later than Jan. 27.
No phone calls, please.
